The combination of beautiful, ever-changing landscapes, dozens of memorable characters with extensive stories, loads of animals to collect and the substantial main story, Cozy Grove is a game with a lot to offer. Once you are done you can put your feet up and wait until tomorrow for your next tasks. You can play at your own pace, checking in with the game at different times of the day to discover new items. Think Casper the Friendly Ghost rather than The Babadook. You play as a scout who arrives on a haunted island, but it’s the good kind of haunted. The campaign is played over a few months of in-game time but has lots of features to allow fans to relax with the game regularly. A haven from the trials and tribulations of life where you can sit back and unwind. Cozy Grove is a game that’s designed to be relaxing, but it takes that mentality way too far, especially if you’re looking for it to be a wholesome distraction from the stresses of modern life. Cozy Grove released on Nintendo Switch last week but has been winning the hearts of indie fans since it was released on Apple Arcade in February. More than the usual grind though, these quests are more like hidden-object challenges where you root through the dense flora and fauna to find what you are looking for.Ĭleverly, the game ensures these tasks never get overwhelming. With a beautiful painterly art style and a sumptuous soundtrack to boot, the developers behind Cozy Grove have sought to develop just that, a digital, cozy grove. As a Spirit Scout, you'll wander the island's forest each day, finding new hidden secrets and helping soothe the local ghosts. Each resident you meet gives you tasks like scavenging and crafting specific items. Welcome to Cozy Grove, a life-sim game about camping on a haunted, ever-changing island. The first thing I bought in Cozy Grove was an adorable green bird, before realising it wouldn’t be truly happy (and provide me with valuable essence) without a nice. With each spirit that you help, the colorless snow bound island of Cozy Grove will start to come alive revealing a lush.
#COZY GROVE REVIEWS FULL#
Like Animal Crossing, around the narrative and help-tasks it's a collectathon game. In Cozy Grove you take on the role of a Spirit Scout who is sent to a haunted island full of anthropomorphic ghost bears to help them recover their lost memories so they can move on to the afterlife. You soon discover different ghost bears on the island who need your help coming to terms with their past before they can pass on to a peaceful afterlife
Like Animal Crossing, it has a children's story-book look, but is a surprisingly layered and engaging experience.
I mean we have a Metroidvania genre where every game within it is going to be automatically compared to the big forebears of that genre. Its not a knock on Cozy Grove, especially when you consider the success of those titles. You play a scout and explore the ever changing island's forest to find secrets and help the local ghosts. The people playing Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley are 100 their target audience here. Cosy Grove is a life-simulation where you camp on a hand-drawn island. Forget the website side of things, cozy is a keyword Im very fond of, so a game called Cozy Grove 100 gets my attention.
